Soon, there might be an Indian version of the TGV running on our tracks!
France, which is known for its expertise in high speed trains like the TGV, could soon be helping India in the creation of a modern, high-speed rail network in the country. Indian Railways will soon be signing an MoU with French Railway, to expand the area of cooperation between the two.
Besides a high-speed rail corridor, French expertise may be sought on maintenance and upgrading of tracks, the signalling system and safety technologies. Dominique Bussereau, the French Minister of State for Transport, Energy and Ecology, accompanied by a high level delegation, will be arriving in New Delhi today, with regard to the signing of this MoU.
The formal signing will take place on the 14th of May, at the Rail Bhawan in Delhi, in the presence of the French delegation and senior railway officials including KC Jena, Chairman - Railway Board. The MoU will initially be valid for three years and if both the parties want, it may be extended for another year.
