Honda launches CBF Stunner 125, will start its CBU program by end-2008

Initially, the Honda CBF Stunner 125 will only be available in red and yellow paint schemes (see below), but later, we hope HMSI decides to do this terrific-looking Repsol-replica paintjob as well!

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the all-new CBF Stunner, which is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder 125cc engine that makes 11 horsepower at 8,000rpm. The bike will be available in three variants, priced between Rs 47,000 to 51,500, ex-showroom Delhi.

The CBF Stunner 125 features a five-speed gearbox, 17-inch alloy wheels, disc brake at the front and tubeless tyres. HMSI has a sales target of 80,000 units of this bike in the current fiscal. The company, which had sold 907,000 bikes in the last fiscal, hopes to be able to sell at least one million bikes in the current fiscal.

The Honda CBR1000RR is coming to India by end-2008, but be prepared to shell out more than Rs 10 lakh if you want to buy one...

In terms of new products being launched in the Indian market, Honda has been going very slow. Its largest seller in the country – the Activa scooter – is about eight years old already. But now, HMSI is finally gearing up for getting into the big bikes segment – the company will launch its large-capacity (800cc and above) sportsbikes in the Indian market by the end of this year. These will be imported from Japan as CBUs and will be priced at more than Rs 10 lakh.
