Mercedes-Benz unveils new S600 Pullman Guard

The Mercedes-Benz special-protection unit marks its 80th anniversary with the launch of the new S600 Pullman Guard state limousine…

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its top-of-the-line luxury limousine, which is meant for government leaders, billionaire industrialists and royalty. The Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman Guard is the latest in a long tradition of large, armoured, prestige limousines from the world's oldest automaker. This model also marks a special anniversary for the Stuttgart-based firm: 80 years of manufacturing vehicles with factory-integrated special protection.

To give you an idea of just how big the S600 Pullman Guard is, get this – its wheelbase of 4,315mm is 1,150mm more than that of the long version of the special-protection Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Indeed, with an overall length of 6,356mm, S600 Pullman Guard is a vehicle of majestic proportions, which offers its passengers the very ultimate in space, comfort, and high-tech communications and entertainment systems.

The S600 Pullman Guard is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s 5,513cc, twin-turbo V12, which produces 517 horsepower and 830Nm of torque. And its ‘Highest Protection’ status means that it has been engineered to resistance level B6/B7 – effective protection against terrorist attacks. Its armour resists military-standard small-arms projectiles and provides protection against fragments from hand grenades and other explosive charges. Additional safety features include run-flat tyres, a self-sealing fuel tank and a fire-extinguishing system.

With the increasing number of millionaires and billionaires in India, we’re sure it can’t be too long before the S600 Pullman Guard makes its way to our shores as well…
