BAIC, Koenigsegg sign MoU regarding Saab
The Koenigsegg Group, which recently signed an agreement to buy Saab from GM, has now signed an MoU with the Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co. Ltd. (BAIC), under the terms of which BAIC would become a non-controlling minority shareholder in Koenigsegg.
While full details have not been revealed yet, the MoU between BAIC and Koenigsegg is said to be aimed ultimately allowing Koenigsegg to launch Saab cars in China and other Asian markets. ‘This is an important step on the road to a new Saab. We have a solid business plan, an important partnership and we are now in a position to go ahead without any governmental financing,’ said Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO of Koenigsegg Group AB.
