India-bound KTM 125s shown at EICMA

KTM has been developing a range of all-new 125cc motorcycles at its headquarters in Mattighofen, in Austria. These bikes, which will be launched in India by Bajaj Auto (which has a 32% stake in KTM) in 2010, are now ready and are being shown at the currently ongoing EICMA Show in Milan, Italy.

Unlike 125cc bikes currently available in India, the KTM 125s are high-tech machines. Their single-cylinder 125cc engines, which produce 15 horsepower, feature four-valve heads, double overhead camshafts (DOHC), liquid cooling and fuel injection.

Designed by Gerald Kiska, the KTM 125s have been engineered for riding pleasure and feature KTM’s usual tubular steel lattice frames, high-spec WP suspension components and Brembo brakes.

The KTM-Bajaj 125cc bikes for India will be unveiled at the Auto Expo in Delhi, in January 2010. While those bikes might have different styling (or more than one variant may be displayed), the engine will certainly be the one described above.

Given its high-tech engine and high-end components, the KTM-Bajaj 125s will certainly be more expensive than any other 125cc bike in India, but for motorcycle enthusiasts, these bikes are likely to be a delightful experience.
