Ford India in partnership with MapmyIndia for in-car GPS

The Endeavour and other Ford cars will now be available with in-car GPS navigation

Ford India has entered into a partnership with MapmyIndia and will be using the latter’s MapmyIndia Navigator GPS device on some of its cars. ‘Through this partnership, we hope more Indian consumers can enjoy the convenience and comfort of GPS navigation in their cars,’ says Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia.

The MapmyIndia Navigator system will first be offered on the Ford Endeavour SUV, though it can also be fitted on other Ford cars like the Fiesta, Fusion and Ikon.

Ford plans to make India its APA hub for engines

Ford India will start making engines for export to Asia-Pacific and Africa regions, within the next two years

Ford India plans to make India its strategic manufacturing hub for engines in the Asia Pacific and Africa (APA) region. Ford will export petrol and diesel engines from India to South Africa and other countries in the APA region in the next two years. From the current 60,000 engines per annum, Ford India wants to increase its engine production capacity in Chennai to 250,000 engines per annum. This is part of Ford’s strategy to invest Rs 2,000 crore, to increase the production of engines and vehicles in India by the year 2010.

Ford India appoints Suneil Shetty as brand ambassador for Endeavour SUV, hikes prices of all its cars

Ford India has announced the appointment of Hindi film actor Suneil Shetty as the brand ambassador for the Ford Endeavour SUV. ‘Cars have always ranked high on my priority list and the Ford Endeavour is a dream come true for any car buff looking for a true blue SUV,’ says Shetty.

In order to pay Mr Shetty for his services, Ford India has also hiked priced of all its cars, except the Ikon. Er… no, we’re just kidding. Ford has raised prices of its cars in order to offset the increase in import costs and increases in the prices of locally sourced components.
